Hazards in Stockland Sandon development?
Local news programs are asking what's going on at Sandon Point.
In the early hours of 17th May 2011, SPATE residents noticed several workers dressed in full head-to-toe white hazard suits and breathing masks, that were on the Stockland development site and seemed to be checking and flagging areas that were being earthworked near the large fill heap in the south-east part of the site, and other places.
Photograph1 and Photo 2 taken by SPATE representatives at the time.
The presence of these workers has not been a routine event and SPATE residents and other community members are very concerned and wish to know who the suited workers represent and why the workers were suited up like there could be asbestos or some other contamination coming out of the ground or in the fill pile? This is of particular concern as on recent windy days the community was exposed to dust coming off the Stockland site, and none of them had a dust mask or contamination suit handy to wear.
