The Sandon Point community is once again facing up to the threat of the
major development proposal from Stockland and the Anglican Retirement
Villages. The Concept Plan and Stockland’s Project Application are again

Court Overrules Minister : Climate Change Must be Considered

NSW Greens MP and Planning spokesperson Sylvia Hale has welcomed a decision of the Land and Environment Court to overturn Ministerial approval of a resort development at Sandon Point near Wollongong.

The Court found that Planning Minister Frank Sartor and the Director-General of Planning failed to give consideration to the possible effects of climate change on changing sea levels and flood risks for the coastal development.

“Being naked to Save Sandon Point as part of the Art Installation photographed by Tyler Freeman Smith was quite an experience," said Kate Morris, one of the organizers. "I was prepared to be freezing but it was quite a magical experience, especially when the couple of hundred people watching us on the point, clapped at the end of the shoot.”
